Pearl Cove Foundation is a neighbor-driven nonprofit focused on recovery, resilience, and community in Madeira Beach and the surrounding coastal neighborhoods. Founded by Brenda Fernandez, our work grew from a personal wake-up call after a devastating flood during Hurricane Helene and witnessing firsthand the immense struggles our elderly neighbors faced in the wake of disaster.
Brenda’s home flooded on Helene, and, with her neighbor, she endured the daunting task of salvaging what they could. Watching so many neighbors—especially our seniors—grapple with the physical burden of removing damaged furniture, the financial strain from lacking home insurance, and the heartbreak of losing homes, Brenda was moved to act. She envisioned a place where neighbors could come together to help one another—practical support, with a spirit of community and solidarity.
Madeira Beach, a small beach town, is built on neighborly goodwill. We believe this is exactly the time and place to lean into that strength: to lend a hand, share resources, and rebuild not just homes but also trust and connection. Pearl Cove Foundation was created to turn that belief into action.
To empower neighbors to recover from natural disasters through practical aid, trusted guidance, and a shared commitment to community resilience. We strive to ensure no one faces the path to recovery alone.
Neighbor-Centered Support: We mobilize neighbors to help neighbors, fostering timely, compassionate assistance tailored to each family’s needs.
Resource Exchange: We connect households in need with furniture, fixtures, lights, countertops, and other essentials—giving items a second life and reducing the cost and effort of rebuilding.
Community Unity: We build trust and connection within the neighborhood, creating a network that stands together in times of crisis and beyond.
Transparent, Local Focus: We prioritize transparency, local leadership, and practical solutions that reflect the unique needs of Madeira Beach and its residents.
Disasters do not care about age or income, but community care does.
Our mission is simple: when adversity strikes, neighbors help neighbors—quickly, compassionately, and with lasting impact. By strengthening our local network, we aim to restore homes, preserve dignity, and foster a sense of belonging that endures long after the immediate recovery phase.
